“Walking Together in Hope: A Parish Conversation on Mental Health & Healing” We are prayerfully discerning whether there is interest in exploring a spiritual healing ministry of accompaniment for individuals and families affected by mental health challenges, addiction, and family or relational harm, including domestic violence. Currently, there is no formal ministry or commitment. This is simply an invitation to listen, learn, and discern together how our parish community might respond with compassion, reverence for human dignity, and fidelity to Catholic teaching, as encouraged by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Church reminds us that those who experience mental or emotional suffering are not defined by their struggles, but by their God-given dignity, and that no one should walk this path alone. We seek to understand how our parish might be a place of welcome, hope, prayer, education, and appropriate referral, while respecting boundaries, confidentiality, and safety. Anyone who feels drawn to conversation and prayerful discernment is invited to reach out—whether through personal experience, family experience, pastoral interest, or simply a desire to support others. You are also welcome to share this invitation with someone you believe may wish to be part of these discussions. “Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.”(Galatians 6:2) If you are interested in participating in this initial discernment, or know someone who might be, please contact Deacon Tom (deacontom@sjceuclid.com) All inquiries will be received with respect and discretion.
